Since its establishment in 1968, Telespazio operated in the field of space support systems and services: as a result it has advanced capabilities in engineering new Space Missions and support their Launch and Early Orbit Phases (LEOP), in the design and implementation of Ground Segments and in the provision of operational services throughout the mission life.

Telespazio is a joint venture between Finmeccanica (67%) and Thales (33%), is one of the main world-wide players in the satellite services focused on the following strategic sectors: Satellite operations and Program Development, Defence, Networks and Connectivity, Earth Observation, Navigation and Infomobility. Currently Telespazio is deeply involved in both COSMO-SkyMed and Galileo programs. Telespazio designed and realized Satellite Control Centres for the operative phase of both geosynchronous and low earth satellites like SIRIO, OLYMPUS, ITALSAT, SAX, ARTEMIS, SICRAL, AGILE and ATLANTIC BIRD; Telespazio also developed more than 40 TT&C stations operating in S/X-band, C-band, Ku-band and Ka-band with antennas up to 32 meters both in Italy and around the world. Telespazio successfully performed the full mission management in the LEOP of missions like SICRAL, ARTEMIS (including the Recovery Mission), ATLANTIC BIRD 1 and W3A, furthermore providing TT&C support services for other missions (including INTELSAT and INMARSAT) adding up a total of more than 120 LEOPs. Telespazio facilities are widely distributed in Italy (Fucino, Scanzano, Lario, Matera) and abroad.

The company Head Quarters are located in Rome. The Fucino Space Centre, the largest civilian satellite centre in the world, performs space borne telecommunications services (data, voice, video, mobile means, etc.); multimedia services, TT&C and IOT services. The Scanzano Spatial Center is involved in satellite navigation, remote sensing, from aerial and satellite platforms, environmental monitoring, and meteorology.

Telespazio has a wide geographical presence abroad, including Northern and Southern America and Eastern Europe: Telespazio Brazil, Telespazio Hungary, Rartel in Romania, Telespazio North America in USA.
